Virginia L. Szybist, 86, of Williamsport, passed away at The Gatehouse on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.
Virginia was born in Williamsport on Dec. 12, 1932, a daughter of John J. and Katherine (Zielewicz) Szybist.
She had been employed at Ray-O-Vac and Sylvania prior to retiring from Springs Window Fashions. She was a member of the former Holy Rosary Church, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish, and also was a member of Newberry Independent Club (The Polish Club). Virginia enjoyed bowling, delivered Meals on Wheels for the Lincoln Senior Center for many years and was a blood donor.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Sharon (Ray) Bonner; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charles) Brown and their children Charles Brown III and Kyler Brown, Chris (Karen) Bonner and their son Elliott Bonner; Telena (Jeff) Gascon and their children Sidney, Ethan, Abbie, Seth and Noah Gascon; siblings, John (Jean) Szybist, Jacqueline Fleisher and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, her siblings, Christine Smith, Lenora Lukowsky, Wilhelmina Waldman, Evelyn Hoover, Thelma Bradley, H. Jeanne Caringi, Edward and Frank Szybist, all preceded her in death.
The family will receive family and friends in the church’s portico on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, with the Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating, burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
