OK y’all. You know how this works. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of space to do it.

So pitter-patter, let’s get at ‘er! Here are this year’s Super Bowl Predictions from around the area!

I asked my BF Steve first, and since he’s not much of a football fan, he was hard-pressed to come up with a prediction. But he decided that the Pats are going to take it this year, but doesn’t see a big scoring game happening. He’s thinking the Rams are going to lose 21-7.

As always I checked in with the News Team, and as always they had some interesting takes on the outcome. Per the norm, Jeff’s just in it for pizza, beer, and commercials. I had to clean up the language a bit, but Dustin thinks the Pats are going to irritate everyone again and get the win 28-24. Jimmy wants to the see the Rams take it 34-31, but thinks Dustin is probably right. He then said something to the effect of, “Flippin’ Pats” — or something like that.

Next up is Loyalsock Football Head Coach Justin VanFleet. He’s also taking the Pats for the win and predicts a fairly close game at 31-24.

While we are talking coaches, from up on the hill, Williamsport Head Coach Chuck Crews is having a battle of heart vs. head. His heart says the Rams are going win 45-35, but his head says the Pats have it 34-17.

From the gridiron to the hardwood, Mountie Basketball Head Coach Paul ‘Smokey’ Stover is calling it the same at Coach VanFleet. He’s got New England 31-24.

I know it’s hard to believe, but Crosscutter’s lead man Gabe Sinicropi is actually a pretty funny guy. He sent me this when asked about the big game, “Gladys Knight’s National Anthem will clock in at over 2 min. Maroon 5’s first song at halftime will be ‘One More Night.’ Commentators will mention Sean McVey’s age at least three times. A touchdown will be overturned by replay, and Tony Romo will correctly predict five plays. Oh, the game? The Patriots have a chip on their shoulder. New England wins 34 to 27.” Thanks for the entertainment Gabe.

Lou Hunsinger thinks the Pats are going to take it also. He’s predicting a 35-17 LA loss. He believes Brady is a “wily veteran that always rises to the occasion,” and that LA’s defense is somewhat suspect.

Our County correspondent Larry Stout had this to say, “Patriots 24 – Rams 14. The Rams have had a storied year, but have not been impressing anyone lately, whereas the Patriots are peaking at the right time. I don’t believe there will be any late-game heroics, because the Pats will take charge early and not let go. I am no fan of New England, but experience is invaluable in the Super Bowl, and this is far from their first rodeo. Would not be surprised if they even win big.”

Scott Lowery seems to be suffering a bit of football ennui. He said, “Patriot fatigue is a growing malady. Enough already. There are 27 other teams I’d rather see in this game, so I have no rooting interest. Rams can be fun to watch, but I’ll go with the boring but proven Belichick and Brady. Patriots 31-23.”

Pastor Tim is preaching for the underdogs. He believes the Rams are going win 24-21.

Planet Mom says it should be the Saints over the Chiefs 28-7, and then there was some laughing. I never did get an actual prediction from her…

County Commissioner Tony Mussare has a similar feeling to Mindy. He would have rather seen the Saints get the win over Kansas City, but when push comes to shove he’s taking the Pats over the Rams 27-24.

Gary Chrisman is keeping his prediction short and close. He’s calling a Pats win 31-30.

We don’t discriminate around here. We even got Chris ‘Doc’ Masse from the Sun-Gazette to chime in. While he believes there’s no better than Brady — past, present, or future — he believes the Rams are better overall. So he’s taking LA to win 28-20.

Mike Rupert is also calling a close New England win. He thinks the Rams are going to lose 27-21.

Fairfield Auto Group’s lead man, Rick Quigley, tossed his thoughts in too and is one of the few calling a Rams win. He’s thinking they are going to take it 31-27. Seems fair.

Jimmy doesn’t think this game is going to be close at all. He’s predicting a 42-17 Patriots win claiming that the Brady/Belichick Dynasty will continue with a statement.

Personally, I would like to see the Rams win, but honestly, I don’t know enough about football to really have an opinion. I’ll be working behind the bar at the Sons that night, so I’m just hoping someone will bring me snacks!
