Irene Marion Eck, 90, of Bastress Twp. passed away at home on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.

Irene was born in Bastress Twp. on March 27, 1928 a daughter of Joseph and Dora (Baier) Steinbacher.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception of The Blessed Virgin Mary and a member of the church’s St. Ann’s Society. She was also a life-long member of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of Pennsylvanians For Human Life.

Surviving are her husband of 71 years, James H. Eck, children; Patty (Ronny) Pfirman, Diana (Mike) Persun, Evelyn (Harry) Rall, MaryLou (Joe) O’Neill, Denise (Dan) Boring, Doris (Larry) Bush, Roxane (Rick) Keller, Larry (Beth) Eck, Cheryl (Eric) Palski, Tammy (Mike) Packer, Kimberly (Scott) Corson; 58 Grandchildren; 121 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, a son James Stephen Eck; a grandsons, Dale Pfirman and Joshua Rall; great-grandson, Ethan Persun, brothers, Matt, Gene, Carl and Joseph Steinbacher and sisters, Sister Dorthea Steinbacher, S.C.C., Dorothy Moore, Eleanor Waldman and Genieve Steppe all preceded her in death.

The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E.3rd St., Williamsport on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. with a Vigil service at 5:30 p.m. and the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at Immaculate Conception of the BVM, 5973 Jacks Hollow Rd., Bastress, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
