Ethel E. Fillman, 96, of Salladasburg, passed away Wed., Jan., 16, 2019 at the Heartland Retirement Home in Woolrich with her family by her side. Born in Salladasburg, June 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Lush) Thomas.
Ethel was the widow of Donald Fillman, who passed away in 1968. She was a homemaker and took great joy in raising her family. Ethel was a member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church in Salladasburg. Ethel loved animals, especially her cat Frosty. Ethel cooked and baked for many activities at church and in the community; she was well known for her homemade raisin filled cookies. Ethel also enjoyed reading, all kinds of word puzzles and playing bingo.
Ethel’s survivors include a son, Richard E. (Mindy) of Jersey Shore, a daughter Mary E. Golden (Kirk) of Harrisburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by a son, Robert, six brothers; Edgar, Charles, Fred, Raymond, Donald, Merle and a sister, Mary Groce.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heartland Retirement Home, 46 Elementary Lane, Woolrich, PA 17779.
There will be a public viewing Friday, Jan., 25, 2019 from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, followed by Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating her funeral service at 5 pm. Burial will be private at the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
