Williamsport’s baseball fandom was formally introduced to George Herman (Babe) Ruth yesterday afternoon and if Ruth likes us as well as we like him, the good impression is a mutual one.

Incidentally, it may be mentioned that Ruth’s All Stars, four of whom were members of the Pennsylvania R.R. team won the game, an eight- inning contest 8 to 5.

Incidentally, also local fandom must hand it to N. Burrows Bubb, Ed Bullock. George Erdman, et al., of the Williamsport Baseball Club for bringing back especially for this game practically the whole of the pennant winning Williamsport team of the NYP League. That was a stroke of enterprise that the baseball fans would do well to remember.

In addition to Ruth, the All Stars line up included Dutch Reuther of the Brooklyns and Scott of the Giants, hero of the World’s Series of 1923. Scott did the pitching for the All Stars.

Prior to the game Ruth did some long distance hitting, driving the ball out of lot seven times. Twice he hit one over the Culler Furniture factory, the longest hits ever made at the local high school field. Just to show he was entirely impartial, he walloped the pill over the left field fence too.

During the regular game Ruth went 2 for 2 and drove in a run with a homer. Local fans were delighted when the Bambino struck out in the sixth inning off pitching by Jim Mahady.

Reference to the box score will show that the local management went to a great deal of trouble to get the Williamsport pro players back. Of the 10 men in the line- up, Dave Kramer was the only one wearing an alien uniform.
