William N. Smith, Jr., 86, of Williamsport and Lakeland, FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Williamsport Home.
Bill retired in 1990 from Lonza Inc. (formaly Glyco Chemicals Inc). He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Williamsport. He enjoyed gardening, coin collecting, genealogy and reading mysteries. One of Bill’s favorite activities was tracking the weather where all of his children and grandchildren lived.
Bill was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara for 66 years until her time of her death on December 1, 2017. He missed her dearly. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son, William N. Smith, III.
He is survived by his daughters, Betsy S. (John) Dick, of Jersey Shore, Bonnie K. (Steven) Reeder, of Montoursville, and Barbie (Curt) Martz, of Bloomsburg, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, September 20, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, with the Rev. Kenton L. Hunt and Bill’s grandson, Matthew M. Dick officiating. Interment will be held in Montoursville Cemetery following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
