Leola E. Harmon, 100, of Jersey Shore, died Aug. 10, 2018, at Valley View Nursing Home. She was born July 16, 1918, in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late William and Mary Janette (Buffum) Bray.
Leola retired from the former GTE Sylvania, and was a member of Larryville United Methodist Church. The presence of family was essential in Lee’s life. She could often be found taking trips to new places, visiting family in different states, or laughing at family dinners and picnics. In her 100 years of life she enjoyed picking Florida strawberries, traveling, baking, reading, watching her grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow and eating, especially sweets. Leola will always be remembered for her silent winks of approval when no one else was looking and growling over disliking her picture being taken. She LOVED living in Florida and being born in Buffalo she Hated snow!
Preceding her in death were husband, Ethan R. Harmon, who died Aug. 26, 1993; three brothers, William, Robert, and John Bray; daughter, Barbara Harmon, and two sons-in-law, Phillip G. Harbach and Wayne Bergenstock.
Surviving are a son, Alton (Jacqueline) Harmon, of Cassellberry, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Harbach, of Jersey Shore and Denise Bergenstock, of Williamsport; two sisters, Mildred Corwin, of Lawrenceville, and Connie (Hank) Sawyer, of Deltona, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cheryl (Desmond) Fields, Philip B. (Charlene) Harbach, Deanna (Mark) Fink, Crystal (Keith) Way, Douglas Bergenstock, and Keith (Jennifer) Bergenstock; 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a future date and burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Larryville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 315 Larryville Rd., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
