Colonel Vernon L. “Pete” Rozelle, 93

Colonel Vernon L. “Pete” Rozelle, 93, of 118 Church St., S. Williamsport passed away on Saturday June 2, 2018 at UPMC Williamsport following a brief illness. He and his wife the former Patricia Bowman celebrated 37 years together.

He was born on August 9, 1924 in Scottville, MI and was the son of Erin and Bernice Grimmell Rozelle.

Pete was a 1942 graduate of Scottville High School and a 1947 graduate of Michigan State. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force serving in WWII, Europe, as a bomber pilot and flying supplies to Germany during the Berlin Air Lift, then flew rescue planes in Korea. He was Air Command Staff, Air War College. He retired from the Pentagon in 1970 following 28 years of service. He was attached to Joint Chiefs of Staff. Following his military service he was involved in real estate building homes for himself and contractors. Pete was a life member of South Williamsport V.F.W and the American Legion. Pete enjoyed traveling the country in his RV.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; four sons, Vernon (Anita) Rozelle, Jr of Winter Spring, FL, John Rozelle of Port Orange, FL, Jeremiah Rozelle, Port Orange, FL; David Missigman of Voorhees, NJ; four Daughters, Nora Rozelle of Walkersville, MD, Donna (Bob) Diametto of Vineland, NJ, Lori (Basil) Blair of Voorhees, NJ, Lisa (Glen) Bianchini of Blackwood, NJ: one sister, Rose Mary of Michigan; five grandchildren, Caitlyn Blair, David E. Missigman, Basil Blair, III, Luke Bianchini, Amanda Missigman. He was predeceased by a son, Philip Rozelle; a brother, George Rozelle and a sister, Phyllis Rozelle.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial contributions be made in Pete’s name to LAPS, 195 Phillips Park Dr. Williamsport, PA 17702.
