Judith Messner, 74, of Lock Haven passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.
Born on April 8, 1944 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Robert O. and Margaret J. Clemente Johnston.
Judy was a 1962 graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On February 4, 1967, she married Raymond Messner, who survives.
Judy was employed at the Army and Air Force Exchange Services in Fort Eustis, VA.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and attended St. Agnes Catholic Church as well as the Catholic Daughters of America and the Red Hat Society.
Judy was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, bike riding, collecting antiques and motorcycle rides with her husband.
Along with her husband, Raymond, she is survived by two children, Duane Messner of Jacksonville, NC and Tonya Bayne of Bell Air, MD; a brother, Joseph Johnston of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren: Robert and Jessica Bayne and Jason and Danielle Messner; and a great granddaughter, Morgan Bayne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sgt. Robert P. Johnston, who died while serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received on Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 with a Catholic Daughter’s service beginning at 7:45 P.M. followed by a Vigil service officiated by Judy’s cousin, Deacon Chip Young.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
