19-year-old Emma Mitchell has enjoyed horror movies and all things scary since she was a small child. She is using this love to compete in a national online competition called the “Face of Horror” that could yield her $13,000 and the opportunity to go to the Hollywood Hills to be part of a photo shoot with Kane Hodder, who played Jason Vorhees in the “Friday the 13th” movie franchise, to be featured in “Rue Morgue” magazine and a walk-on role in an upcoming horror movie. She is competing under the name “Horror Girl,” which is the name for voting for her.
Voters vote for their favorites online. Emma has already received thousands of votes. She has climbed from 79th place to 40th place to 20th and is currently in first place on the East Coast among entrants. She will be among the 20 final entrants if she continues at this pace.
Emma is in the final three weeks of the contest. It has lasted over a month. Voting ends November 9th. The winner will be announced on November 17th. She is in the Living Dead Round. She must come in first in her group at 11 p.m. on October 26th to move to the round, which is The Last Scream; she then must finish first in her group to go to the Final Cut. Voting is free daily, and there is a place for donations for the B+ Pediatric Foundation, which sponsors this contest. The B+ Foundation has a mission to provide financial assistance to families, fund childhood cancer research, bring awareness to the fight against childhood cancer, and spread positivity!
She has been competing against some tough horror competitors the last few weeks, so voting is crucial to her moving forward. She is currently bouncing from First to Second daily. She is available for meet and greets and will appear at the Pennsdale Haunted House on October 28th.
Her parents are Curtis and Stachelee Pusey of Hughesville. Emma is a Hughesville High School graduate and a caretaker for hospice patients. Her dream is to go into the horror business. A video was filmed recently that was required to be sent and will be viewed by Kane Hodder.
“I am just a small-town gal with a dream of having Jason’s hands around my neck; that’s how I want taken out. Isn’t that perfectly normal?” Emma told Webb Weekly, “I have a great team trying to generate votes for me. My Gram (Sue Merick) is my biggest fan and will go with me if I win. She got me into all this horror when I was just like two or three years old. Winning would be awesome, but if I don’t make it through, I am happy in the fact I have helped little kids who just want to run and play. I hope you will take a few minutes and vote for me.”
