Jacqueline A. Murray, 84

Jacqueline A. Murray, 84, beloved wife and mother and a lifelong resident of Montoursville, passed away at her home on May 23, 2018. She was born on July 6, 1933 to the late Irvin C. Shult and Anne Krepick Shult. Jacqueline was a 1951 graduate of Montoursville High School. She married Lester L. Murray, also of Montoursville, in 1953.

Her life-long passion for education led Jackie to become a member of the Montoursville Area School Board for 26 years. For several of those years, she served as Board President and a regional representative to Pennsylvania Intermediate Unit 17. She was also a passionate Montoursville High School band parent for 11 years. A longtime member of the Montoursville Garden Club, Jackie enjoyed flower arranging and civic beautification projects. She was also an active member of the Williamsport Junior League and served for a decade on the boards of the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra and Venice (Florida) Symphony Orchestra. A tireless participant for many organizations, Jacqueline volunteered at the School of Hope, and with the Williamsport Players. Her hobbies included golf, gardening, flower arranging, and listening to big band music. She was an active member of both the Williamsport Country Club and the Venice Golf and Country Club.

Jacqueline is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Lester L. Murray, and her children Mark Murray and Michele Crews Murray of Anderson, IN; Wendy Murray Richmond and Rob Richmond of Bumpass, VA; Matthew Murray and Cynthia Minick Murray of Camp Hill, PA; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Jackie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research at michaeljfox.org

A Life Celebration will be announced at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
