Allen L. “Babe” Foster Sr., 90

Allen L. “Babe” Foster Sr., of Williamsport, went to be with His Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by his family. Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Jean E. (Livingston) Foster.

Born in Montoursville, he was a son of the late Theodore R. and Harriet (Wilt) Foster.

Allen was a 1947 graduate of Montoursville High School. Following graduation he served our country in the United States Navy. After his service time Allen worked many years in sales and later retired from Nevill’s Flowers as a driver.

Allen and his wife, Jean, attended Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a talented poet, avid reader, and enjoyed playing the banjo and even built his own.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Allen L. “Larry” Foster (Cathy), of Huntersville, NC, three grandchildren, Samantha, Grace, and Grant (Daytona) Foster; three great-grandchildren, twins, Iris and Ivy, and Olive; and a sister, Patricia Hanner (Marlin “Sunny”), of Montoursville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore and John Foster; and four sisters, Ruth Egli, Alice Fuller, Joyce Rood, and Jeanette Dittmer.

A funeral service to honor the life of Allen will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 11 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Joel Long officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Allen’s name to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 911 W. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family of Allen would like to express their deep gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport for exceptional care and to everyone who has offered kind words and prayers during this very difficult time.
