Walter V. Boyer, Jr., 88

Walter V. Boyer, Jr., a beloved educator and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the Gatehouse in Williamsport. Born on December 4, 1936, in Williamsport, Walter lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love, reaching the age of 88.

For 35 years, Walter dedicated his professional life to shaping young minds as a special education teacher at Williamsport Area High School. His commitment to his students extended beyond the classroom, as he offered life advice, assisted with job applications, and even took them fishing. Many of his former students invited him to their weddings, a testament to the profound impact he had on their lives.

Walter’s love for football was evident from his days as a player where he earned the nickname “Mighty Mouse” while playing at Williamsport Area High School then continued to play at Lycoming College. His career landed him back in time to coach and shape the next generation. He cherished fishing with his dear friend Bob at his cottage in Canada over the years. He never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good meal, especially with family.

Beryl is his forever love. Since first dancing with her at the Handy Haven in 1950, there has never been another. He danced his way into her arms with his crooked grin last Thursday morning. Like a quote from a treasured family member, “Boy, think of the wonderful reunions taking place right now.”

Walter was a humble man who loved deeply without words. His love flowed freely by his actions and the way he lived and shared his life. So, to those whose lives have been touched by Walter, the family asks that as you reflect and remember, please pass it on for Walter.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter V. and Myra I. (Craven) Boyer, Sr.; his loving wife of 63 years, Beryl E. (Woolever) Boyer; his son, Walter V. Boyer, III; his brother, Edward W. Boyer, Sr.; and his sister, Patricia Ann Snyder.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his son, Daniel O. Boyer (Michelle Alexander) of Loyalsock; his daughter, Cheryl Pulizzi (Mark) of South Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Johnathan (Emily), Gino, Tanner, Morgan (Mitch), Brooks, Blake, and Brendan; four great-grandchildren, Laine, Otto, Maya, and Brooklin; and his sister-in-law, Bette Boyer.

A graveside service to honor Walter’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 26, 2025, on Montoursville Cemetery, 1401 Broad St., Montoursville, PA 17745.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Walter’s name to Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Thank you to our Lord Jesus for our dad, the way that he has blessed our lives and will continue to until we are all reunited once again.
