EXHIBITS

Mixed Media Exhibit
What: A watercolor painting class with artist Jane Albin at the YMCA Arts Center in Sunbury launched a new adventure for seven women: Pat Bontinen, Sylvia Denger, Michele Heller, Andrea Kratzer, Mary Lesnicki, Nancy Shuey, and Pat Sosnoskie. Retired from a variety of professions—educators, an entrepreneur, a magazine editor, a medical sonographer—they came together after realizing they shared a love of art and the pleasure of creating art. Although they mostly work alone, they also find painting together companionable and supportive. At times, they can be found painting together en plein air or experimenting with different techniques, as well as other mediums—oils, pastels, pen & ink, graphite. Visiting galleries and museums together has provided inspiration and new ideas for their work. As a group, they have had three shows at Mondragón Bookstore in Lewisburg. Individually, they have shown in Gallery 255 at the Public Library for Union County and the Packwood House Museum in Lewisburg, the Degenstein Library in Sunbury, and in locations in Selinsgrove, Danville, and Bloomsburg. On their art adventure, they have received recognition and awards, proving it is never too late to pursue your dreams. “Creating art gives us joy and allows us to present our perspectives and interpretations of our subjects. We are pleased to share our work with the community because it can inform or provoke thought about the natural world and other subjects.”
When: Through September 29th during the regular library hours: Mon.-Thurs., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fri. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A reception at the library is scheduled for September 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Where: Their work will be on display in the Milton Public Library at Rose Hill, 541 Broadway, Milton.
